Welcome to Rootsi.
Rootsi is a South African online marketplace created to connect plant lovers, collectors, growers and independent sellers.
Products offered on Rootsi are listed and sold by independent third-party sellers. Rootsi operates the marketplace platform and does not own or hold sellers’ inventory unless specifically stated otherwise.
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Rootsi website, marketplace, auctions, live auctions and related services.
By creating an account, purchasing a product, registering as a seller, listing a product, placing a bid or otherwise using Rootsi, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and the policies referenced within them.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any right that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.
Rootsi is the trading name of a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Lambert Roux in the Republic of South Africa. References in these Terms and related Rootsi policies to “Rootsi”, “we”, “us” or “our” refer to Lambert Roux trading as Rootsi, unless the context indicates otherwise.

Rootsi operates an online marketplace through which independent vendors can advertise and sell plants and other approved products to buyers.
Unless a product is specifically identified as being sold directly by Rootsi, the seller displayed on the product listing is the supplier of that product.
Rootsi provides the marketplace infrastructure, ordering system, payment facilitation, buyer-protection processes, auction functionality, shipping integrations and other marketplace services.
Sellers remain responsible for the products they list and sell.
You may be required to create an account to use certain Rootsi services.
You are responsible for:
Rootsi may suspend or restrict accounts where we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, unlawful activity, policy violations or conduct that could harm buyers, sellers or Rootsi.
Before purchasing, buyers should carefully review:
When an order is placed, the buyer agrees to pay the displayed product price, applicable shipping charges and any other clearly disclosed charges.
Products sold by independent vendors are supplied by those vendors.
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that:
Rootsi may remove listings or suspend sellers who fail to meet these requirements.
Plants are living organisms and naturally vary.
The exact size, shape, colour, maturity, leaf pattern, growth habit and variegation of a plant may differ from photographs unless the listing specifically states that the photographed plant is the exact plant being sold.
Live plants may experience reasonable stress during transportation, including temporary wilting, minor leaf damage, yellowing, cosmetic blemishes, leaf loss or dehydration.
These conditions do not automatically mean that a plant is dead or defective.

Eligible purchases made through Rootsi are covered by the Rootsi Buyer Protection Policy.
Rootsi may delay the release of funds to a seller while:
Buyer Protection does not cover damage caused after delivery through incorrect plant care, environmental conditions, neglect or other circumstances outside the seller’s reasonable control.
Payments must be made through payment methods approved and made available by Rootsi.
Buyers and sellers must not use Rootsi to arrange transactions and then deliberately complete those transactions outside the platform to avoid Rootsi fees or protections.
Rootsi may use third-party payment providers to process transactions.
Rootsi does not store complete payment-card information where payment processing is handled directly by an authorised payment provider.
Orders containing products from different vendors may be shipped as separate parcels.
This may result in more than one shipping charge because products originate from different locations.
Shipping costs will be displayed during checkout where available.
Tracking information may be supplied after dispatch.
Buyers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information.
Additional costs caused by an incorrect address supplied by the buyer may be charged to the buyer where legally permissible.
Delivery estimates are estimates and cannot always be guaranteed.
Weather, courier delays, road conditions, public holidays, remote locations and other circumstances outside Rootsi or the seller’s reasonable control may affect delivery times.
A buyer should inspect a live-plant order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
Rootsi provides Standard Auctions and Live Auctions.
By placing a bid, you confirm that:

Users may not:
Reviews must reflect genuine experiences.
Rootsi may remove reviews that contain spam, threats, harassment, unlawful material, personal information, irrelevant content or evidence of review manipulation.
Rootsi will not remove a genuine negative review merely because a seller disagrees with it.
The Rootsi name, branding, website design, software, graphics and original content belong to Rootsi or their respective licensors.
Sellers retain ownership of their original product photographs and content but grant Rootsi a non-exclusive licence to display, reproduce and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate and promote the marketplace.
We aim to keep Rootsi available and reliable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.
Maintenance, hosting problems, network failures, third-party outages or circumstances outside our control may temporarily affect the platform.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights where such exclusion is prohibited by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rootsi is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from circumstances outside Rootsi’s reasonable control.
Rootsi may modify, improve, discontinue or introduce marketplace features from time to time.
Material policy changes will be published on Rootsi with an updated effective date.
Rootsi may restrict, suspend or terminate accounts where reasonably necessary because of:
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from exercising any statutory rights or using any consumer dispute-resolution mechanism available under South African law.

Rootsi provides marketplace infrastructure including product listings, checkout, payment facilitation, shipping integrations, Buyer Protection, seller tools, reviews, Standard Auctions and Live Auctions.
Sellers remain responsible for the products they list and supply.
Users must provide accurate and current information.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and login credentials.
You must notify Rootsi at admin@rootsi.co.za if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
Rootsi may restrict or suspend accounts where there is reasonable evidence of fraud, unlawful conduct, abuse, serious or repeated policy violations, auction manipulation or conduct that places Rootsi or its users at risk.
Before completing a purchase, buyers should review the product description, photographs, seller details, plant condition, price, shipping information and any other material information provided in the listing.
By submitting an order, the buyer agrees to pay the product price together with applicable shipping and any other charges clearly disclosed before completing checkout.
Unless otherwise stated, sellers on Rootsi operate independently.
Sellers are responsible for:
Rootsi may remove listings that breach marketplace rules or applicable law.
Plants are living organisms and natural variation must be expected.
Size, shape, maturity, colour, number of leaves, growth habit and variegation may vary unless a listing specifically identifies the photographed plant as the exact plant being sold.
Transportation may result in temporary wilting, minor cosmetic damage, yellowing, dehydration or limited leaf loss.
Such symptoms do not automatically mean that a plant is dead or defective.
The Rootsi Live Plant & DOA Policy applies to plant-condition claims.
Qualifying purchases made through Rootsi are protected by the Rootsi Buyer Protection Policy.
Seller payouts may be held while:
Payments must be completed through payment methods approved by Rootsi.
Payment processing may be provided by third-party payment service providers such as Paystack.
Rootsi does not store complete card details where those details are collected and processed directly by the payment provider.
Users may not deliberately move transactions initiated through Rootsi outside the platform to avoid Rootsi fees or Buyer Protection.
Rootsi charges sellers an 8% marketplace commission on qualifying sales made through the Rootsi marketplace.
Applicable payment-processing fees charged by Paystack or another approved payment provider are additional to Rootsi’s 8% commission.
The applicable payment-processing fee may vary according to payment method, transaction type and the payment provider’s current rates.
Current applicable fees will be disclosed through Rootsi’s seller information, fee schedule, dashboard or transaction records.
Rootsi may amend marketplace fees in future. Material changes will be communicated before the revised fees take effect.
Rootsi is a multi-vendor marketplace.
Products purchased from different sellers may originate from different locations and therefore may require separate parcels and separate shipping charges.
Available shipping options and charges will be displayed during checkout where available.
Buyers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information.
Delivery times are estimates unless expressly guaranteed.
Weather, courier operations, remote destinations, public holidays and circumstances outside the reasonable control of Rootsi or the seller may affect delivery.
Buyers should inspect live-plant orders promptly after delivery.
Rootsi provides Standard Auctions and Live Auctions.
By placing a bid, you confirm that your bid is genuine and that you intend to purchase the product if you become the winning bidder.
All auctions are additionally governed by the Rootsi Auction & Live Auction Terms.
Reviews must reflect genuine marketplace experiences.
Rootsi may remove content containing spam, threats, harassment, personal information, unlawful content, fabricated experiences or evidence of review manipulation.
A genuine negative review will not be removed merely because a seller disagrees with it.
Users may not:

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights where exclusion is prohibited by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rootsi will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses resulting from circumstances outside Rootsi’s reasonable control.
Rootsi may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary because of fraud, serious or repeated policy violations, unlawful conduct, non-payment, auction manipulation, abusive behaviour or material risk to Rootsi or its users.
Rootsi may update these Terms as the marketplace develops or where legal, operational, payment or security requirements change.
Material changes will be published with an updated effective date and communicated where reasonably required.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from exercising statutory rights or using dispute-resolution mechanisms available under South African law.
